THE SERIES
Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
(Matthew 28:19-20, NIV)
Chances are, you’ve heard of the Great Commission, but do we really understand what it means to make disciples? Too often, we stop reading this passage at the call to go and baptize. But that’s not where Jesus ends His instruction. He expands on this call to make disciples with one of the most important elements of discipleship, teaching others to obey what Jesus commanded.
This aspect of discipleship raises an uncomfortable but necessary question that all followers of Christ should ask…
How can we teach others the commands of Jesus, if we don’t know them ourselves?
The Following Jesus series takes this challenge seriously by examining every command Jesus gave in the Gospel of Matthew. Each command is broken down so it can be clearly understood and practically applied to everyday life. By doing this, the series builds a foundation that allows believers not only to grow in obedience themselves, but to confidently lead others to do the same.
This three-book journey follows a similar path to the one Jesus took His first disciples down. A journey that began with The Calling to follow Him, developed into an understanding of The Mission He has for us, and culminated in The Execution of His plan.
Join the journey that many have already begun and explore the meaning of Jesus’s commands, find out what it means to follow Jesus, and become equipped to
“Go and make disciples.”
